ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Middle Harbour Public School (MHPS) is an innovative school located in Mosman on the lower North Shore of Sydney with over 420 students. The school works in partnership with parents to provide quality education that encourages students to strive for their personal best in all aspects of growing and learning.
We are committed to providing an enriching, engaging and supportive learning environment where every student has a sense of being known, valued and cared for by a highly dedicated teaching staff and caring school community.
At MHPS expert, explicit teaching drive student achievement; curiosity, play and inquiry drive student engagement. We individualise learning for students through pedagogy and programs that develop and encourage student agency – we want our students to be the drivers of their own learning; and teachers the facilitators of knowledge acquisition, skill development and deep understanding. We recognise the learning diversity of all students.

Our focus is on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy along with the general capabilities, skills and dispositions that contribute to success in school, in the workplace and in life.
The school also provides specialist programs in creative arts, physical education and Mandarin. There is a wide range of extra curricula activities including training, junior and senior bands, string ensembles, choir, dance, public speaking, debating, STEM and chess. Students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting programs including soccer, AFL, netball, swimming and surf school for senior students. The school has been involved in the "Jump Rope for Heart" initiative for many years and students are encouraged to be physically active and healthy.
Established in 1916 our community is proud of its history and traditions. We are also a future focussed school working together to create dynamic and flexible learning environments that support student learning. Technology is used as a tool to support teaching and learning. All classrooms, including the library and specialist programs rooms, are air-conditioned and have internet and wireless access along with other teaching and learning tools including interactive whiteboards, laptops and iPads.
Parents take an active interest in their child's education and the school. Strong parent and community participation supports an enthusiastic and committed staff in providing a well-balanced education for each child in a well-resourced, caring environment.
