CSIRO - Scientist in Schools
MHPS has been involved in the 'Scientist in Schools' program since its inauguration in 1997. This program, run by CSIRO allows schools to engage in science with a scientist. We are partnered with Dr Kaydy Pinetown a Geologist - a specialist in Coal & Unconventional Gas - CSIRO Earth Science & Resource Engineering. Kaydy acts as mentor, role model and inspiration for our students. Kaydy is able to provide staff and students with access to new ideas and fresh perspectives in science.
As a result of this successful partnership, Mrs Carole Jaye was approached by CSIRO Media division to be part of a series of videos that the board of CSIRO were producing to highlight the many programs CSIRO are involved in - education being one of them.
Below is the link to the videos that were recently released. MHPS and Mrs Jaye appear in: "We asked CSIRO- Compilation" and "We asked CSIRO - Middle Harbour Public School" videos. We are very proud of the high profile that science has in our school.
