The Reading Tutor Program at Middle Harbour PS provides extra support in reading and its sub-skills for selected students in Years 1 and 2.
Students are tutored individually by trained volunteers for half an hour each day.
The program is facilitated with the assistance of approximately 40 volunteers from within the school and local community. All sessions are supervised by a teacher.
Parents benefit by increasing their understanding of the reading process and developing skills, which can be used at home with their own children while all volunteers have the satisfaction of seeing a child gain confidence and make progress with his/her reading skills.
