At Middle Harbour Public School, sport is a very important part of the curriculum. All students participate in two hours of planned physical activity each week, based on the Curriculum Planning and Programming, Assessing and Reporting to Parents K-12 document.
Sport comes under the NSW BOS PDHPE Syllabus and covers the Physical Education section. At Middle Harbour we are committed to providing students with the opportunity to experience a range of physical activity through gymnastics, dance, skills based and competitive sports.
Classroom Sport
Throughout the year, each class will particpate in class sport, based on the physical activity schedule. These lessons will vary, according to the upcoming events throughout the school and may include activities such as cross country training and athletics skills. Some lessons will be based around a chosen sport and students will learn the required skills to participate in class run games.
Gymnastics
Students participate in weekly gymnastics lessons for one term throughout the year. They learn a range of different gymnastic skills using the variety of equipment that is available to them, including beam and horizontal bar.
